She studied at the State Higher School of Music in Warsaw under Zbigniew Drzewiecki and in Paris under Vlado Perlemuter and Suzanne Roche (piano), as well as with Jacqueline Dussol (chamber music) and Magda Tagliaferro (interpretation).
After several years of artistic activity in Paris, she relocated to Berlin (1977), where she worked as an independent musician and lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts (1980–2022). From 1990 to 2021, she served as a departmental advisor for the Heinrich Böll Foundation scholarship program.
She has performed concerts, conducted master classes and workshops, and made radio recordings throughout Europe, as well as in North and South America and Asia. She has appeared as a soloist with renowned orchestras, played numerous solo piano recitals, and chamber music concerts.
She has regularly performed at festivals in Germany, Italy, Poland, Brazil, and France, as well as in major concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall in New York, Berlin Konzerthaus, Warsaw Philharmonic, Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic in Łódź, Teatro José de Alencar in Fortaleza and Teatro Da Paz in Belém (Brazil), Salle Cortot in Paris, and Lviv Philharmonic (Ukraine).
She performs classical repertoire as well as outstanding piano works of the 20th century; she has premiered piano pieces dedicated to her by composers from various countries.
Her repertoire includes major cycles of works by Bach, Chopin, Scriabin, Schoenberg, Debussy, Ravel, Janáček, Mussorgsky, Messiaen, Shostakovich, Berio, Stockhausen, and Ligeti. Special programs have focused on "degenerate music," serial music, and contemporary non-European music (from Israel, Brazil, Argentina, and Taiwan). She has performed works by female composers from the 19th and 20th centuries.
She has recorded three CDs featuring works by Fanny Hensel (née Mendelssohn): Lyrical Pieces for Piano (Thorofon), Piano Compositions from the Italian Period (Ars Musici), and, on the occasion of Fanny Hensel's 200th birthday, Piano Works (Acte Préalable). Her premiere recording of Józef Koffler's complete piano works has been available on two CDs since 2005 (Acte Préalable). In June 2018, hänssler CLASSIC released two CDs with world premiere recordings of Arnold Mendelssohn's complete piano works.
