He was a grandson of Agenor Gołuchowski (who was Austria’s minister of the interior and governor of Galicia) and son of Agenor Gołuchowski Jr (Austria-Hungary’s Außenminister, i.e. minister of foreign affairs). Wojciech graduated in law from Lemberg (Lwów) University. He served as an officer in the Austrian army during World War I, then in the Polish Army in the Polish-Bolshevik war from 1919. In 1928–30 he was the governor of Lwów Province, in 1935–38 – a Polish senator from the Lwów district.
As a well-known music lover, he frequently attended concerts in Lwów and may have met Koffler in such a context.
Wojciech Gołuchowski married Zofia née Baworowska (b. 1887 in Biskowice, now Biskovychi in Ukraine, d. 1971 in Warsaw). The Gołuchowski family owned, among others, estates in Janów (now Ivano-Frankove) near Lwów and in Kołtów (now Koltiv) near Złoczów (Zofia’s dowry), as well as an apartment in 29 Listopada Street in Lwów. Wojciech and Zofia acted as godparents at Józef and Róża Koffler’s baptism in Lwów’s St Nicholas (University) Church on 24 January 1938. Following the Soviet invasion of Poland in September 1939, the Gołuchowski couple went in hiding, and in January 1940 they fled from Lwów, ending up in a German camp. After their release, they lived with their daughter and son-in-law, Maria Anna and Henryk Dębiński in Przysucha near Radom. Gołuchowski died in 1960 in Warsaw.
