Opened in late 1891, was designed for the Philharmonic Society by architect Adolf Wagner. The Great (now Marjan Kozina) Hall boasted paintings by the then very popular Heinrich Wettach, whereas chamber music was performed in the Small (now Slavko Osterc) Hall, situated above the entrance hall. A colonnade was added in 1937 on the side of the river, and a dress circle designed by Jože Platner – added to the Great Hall. A contemporary music concert held by the Glasbena Matica Music Society on Friday 26 March 1937 in the Small Hall featured the Sonatina and piano Variations by Józef Koffler.
