The press informs that Koffler took part in the 1932 competition for a dance piece, held by the Polish Composers’ Association (SKP), and that his Grotesque (jointly with Ilza Sternicka-Niekrasz’ Mazurka) won the main prize (Stanisław Niewiadomski, ‘A Contest for Polish Dance Music’, Kurier Polski 111 (1932), 4).
The piece was then successfully performed by Janina Mieczyńska’s school dance ensemble at Warsaw’s Music Conservatory in May 1932. Nothing more is known about this composition.
